Generation Vision: Thursday Huddle for Self and Community Empowerment

A central plank of Teddy’s platform and what he plans to fiercely advocate if he earns the trust and support of the residents in the 8th Congressional District is individual empowerment as a means of rebuilding our communities. It has become glaringly clear that outsourcing our power to DC and multinational corporations who wield a veto power over our government is not working for us, the only way we can restore America is by supporting entrepreneurs and reinvesting in small businesses.

To this end, every Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST, we will be hosting #GenerationVision huddles at various coffee shops throughout Arlington, Alexandria and Southern Fairfax. Today will be the inaugural event and everyone who loves to think outside of the pyramid, has a passion for affecting change, possesses an entrepreneurial drive and believes in collaboration above competition is welcome to join us.

The goal of these ideation sessions is threefold:

  • Teddy will have a chance to meet you and listen to your ideas about individual and community empowerment
  • People in attendance will be encouraged to share their vision and initiatives in order to spread awareness about their efforts
  • Give and receive feedback from like-minded entrepreneurs and thinkers who are determined to succeed through a collaborative environment

This week’s #GenerationVision event will be held at Busboys and Poets in Shillington, Virginia. It’s fitting, the locally owned café is named after Langston Hughes who was a busboy before he became a poet. Just like Langston before he became famous, we have a deep reservoir of talent in our communities. Instead of waiting for the rich and famous to “discover us” and pleading with corporate interests to save us, we can lift ourselves up.

#GenerationVision is a come as you are event and is a free event for all. Seating is based on availability. Busboys and Poets is located at 4251 Campbell Ave, Arlington, VA 22206. For further information, email us at [email protected] or call us at 703.634.3572. Bring your thinking hat and your inspiration to empower ourselves and our communities. See you this evening!
